The bone-dry and enigmatic Scottish comic Chic Murray tells his famous 'lady with a long nose' story. It's a brilliant routine, honed to perfection, without a wasted syllable. I'm afraid this, the only recording I could find, has distracting interruptions from celebrity fans (which may be a technical necessity to cover flaws or gaps in the original). By the way, it was Chic Murray who coined this bare-faced but irresistible compliment: "I don't know how old you are madam; but whatever your age is, you don't look it!" I wish I had the nerve - or the charm - to get away with it.
